I qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1991, serving articles at PWC (Previously Coopers & Lybrand).

I subsequently joined The South African Revenue Services and during this period completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Taxation. From 1997 to 2008 I worked in the Taxation Business Unit of KPMG in both the Durban and Johannesburg offices and before leaving the employ of the company, was in charge of the tax department in KwaZulu-Natal, a position I held for eight years.

I joined the tax team of Ernst &Young (EY) on 1 May 2008 as an associate director, a position I held to 31 August 2010 when I left to form Paynetax.

I am the chairman of SAICA Eastern Region’s Tax Committee and a member of SAICA’ Eastern Region Council. I have served on SAICA’s National Tax Committee since 2009.
